HEDW 2026 Pre-Conference Training

Join us at the HEDW 2026 Conference in Austin for an exciting learning opportunity with leaders in the industry.  Plan to attend one of the pre-conference training sessions on Sunday!

Building an Enterprise-Wide Data Literacy Program with Melissa Barnett - This hands-on workshop will explore data literacy frameworks, essential program elements and considerations, and program formats, while emphasizing the need for a more comprehensive approach to data literacy to address the current data challenges in higher education.

AI-Enhanced BI Practices: A Workshop for Modern Developers with Andre Goodman - This hands-on workshop is designed for entry to mid-level BI developers who want to integrate generative AI into their everyday workflows in a practical, responsible way. Participants will learn how to design clear, repeatable BI development processes and then layer AI on top to automate routine tasks such as documentation, project planning, and stakeholder communication. Through real-world demonstrations, prompt-based activities, and collaborative exercises, attendees will experiment with AI tools to generate project artifacts like intake forms, timelines, and documentation while maintaining human judgment, quality, and oversight. The workshop is especially relevant for teams in higher education where BI resources are limited, requests are complex, and expectations for accuracy and transparency are high.

Please note that you must be a HEDW 2026 Conference attendee to leverage either of these pre-conference training opportunities.  The training sessions run concurrently on Sunday, April 26.  These training sessions are add-ons to the conference registration and the cost for each training session is $600/attendee.  Registration will be available when the conference registration opens in late-January.
